Three distinct signature combinations across a four-year run tells you something about the political turbulence the Dominican Republic was managing at the time. The 2002 printing also introduced ascending-size serial numbering — a security upgrade that was quietly dropped in favour of uniform sizing for the 2003 and 2004 issues, making the earlier printings easy to distinguish in hand without consulting watermarks or threads.

Frank Guerrero Prats held the governorship across two consecutive printings, an unusual continuity given how frequently the central bank's leadership turned over during this period. Héctor Valdez Albizu, who signed the 2004 issue, would go on to become one of the longest-serving governors in the bank's history.
