Obverse description Light brown intaglio on multicolour underprint. An intaglio portrait of Antonio José de Sucre is positioned at lower left, executed in fine line engraving with precise detail characteristic of American Bank Note Company craftsmanship. A series letter Z is present on the face of the note.

Reverse description Olive-green intaglio on a pink-rose underprint. At centre, a circular medallion vignette contains a laureate allegorical figure of Liberty in profile, encircled by the inscription BANCO DE LA REPÚBLICA / BOGOTÁ COLOMBIA; elaborate guilloche rosettes flank the medallion at left and right. Denomination numerals 50 repeat along the top and bottom border registers, with the legend CINCUENTA PESOS ORO set in a decorative cartouche at the foot of the note above the printer's imprint AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY.
