Obverse description The Mexican national arms occupy the central field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle displayed facing right, wings spread, perched on a prickly pear cactus rising from a rocky outcrop, grasping a serpent in its beak and talons. An oak and laurel wreath is tied at the base of the cactus. The circular legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS runs along the upper periphery in Latin characters, framed by a beaded border.
