Provincial currency in Argentina is rarely straightforward, and Córdoba's 1990s issues are no exception. Following the federal government's Convertibility Plan of 1991, provinces were technically prohibited from issuing their own currency — so Córdoba, like several others, issued interest-bearing bonds that functioned as de facto banknotes in local commerce. These were the "Letras de Tesorería" series, popularly called "lecops" or by province-specific nicknames, circulating alongside federal pesos when provincial payrolls outran available cash.
The PS prefix in the Pick catalogue places this firmly in the quasi-money category rather than conventional provincial banking issues.
