| Obverse description | Intaglio-engraved portrait of General Ignacio Zaragoza within an oval vignette at right, identified by the inscription "ZARAGOZA" beneath. The centre of the note carries a large guilloche oval with the denomination numeral "50" in white relief, flanked by two smaller "50" counters, set against a multicolour underprint of intricate lathe-work in orange, blue and green tones.
