| Obverse description | Printed in green and black with a pink guilloche underprint, the obverse carries at left an allegorical vignette of a standing male figure with two children in a classical pastoral composition, and at right a portrait vignette of a uniformed military officer facing left. The centre presents the typeset denomination CINCUENTA PESOS beneath the bank title EL BANCO NACIONAL in bold Gothic lettering, with REPÚBLICA ARGENTINA across the top, and the legal inscription MONEDA NACIONAL ORO, SEGÚN LEY DE 5 DE NOVIEMBRE DE 1881 above the date BUENOS AIRES ENERO 1° DE 1883.
