Additional information

Issued to mark Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee, this is the silver variant of a commemorative that also appeared in cupro-nickel — the "a.2" suffix in the KM reference distinguishing it from the base-metal version by composition rather than design. The Falkland Islands issued Jubilee coinage with particular weight in 2002, given the islands' political history: the 1982 conflict with Argentina had made the Crown's continued sovereignty over the territory a matter of direct military consequence, not mere ceremony.
