The Red Knight originates from the 1963 children's television series "Sir Prancelot," but the more likely reference here is the broader British tradition of heraldic chess pieces popularized by the Royal Mail and subsequent commemorative programs. Guernsey has issued themed 50 pence pieces under licensing arrangements that allow the Bailiwick's treasury to profit from collector demand without the piece ever entering meaningful circulation.
