Issued to mark the death of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother in March 2002 at age 101, this is one of dozens of commemoratives produced across British Overseas Territories that year. Saint Helena's geographic isolation and small population meant local demand was negligible; these pieces were struck primarily for the collector market and saw no meaningful circulation on the island.
