| Additional information |
The Isle of Man has issued Lewis Carroll-themed 50 pence pieces since 2021, tying the series loosely to the 150th anniversary of *Through the Looking-Glass*. Carroll's Hare first appeared in *Alice's Adventures in Wonderland* in 1865, and the Isle of Man — operating independently of Royal Mint licensing constraints — has long used its numismatic program aggressively as a revenue stream, issuing colourised variants specifically to attract collector premiums over face value. The KM#1696.1 reference distinguishes the colourised version from the standard cupro-nickel strike catalogued separately.
