Additional information

Squadron 60 was the Royal Canadian Air Force unit operating Lysander aircraft on clandestine Special Operations Executive missions over occupied France from 1942 onward, inserting and extracting agents under cover of darkness at improvised fields. Guernsey's interest in the subject is not incidental — the island was under German occupation throughout the war, and SOE operations in the region carried direct consequence for its population.

Gold-plated copper issues of this type were produced for the collector market, with no circulation intent.
