Issued to mark the 25th wedding anniversary of Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, this was one of dozens of commemorative 50p pieces produced across British Crown dependencies and territories in 1972. Jersey's version was struck in sterling silver at a time when the standard circulating 50p was cupro-nickel — making this a purpose-bought keepsake from the outset, with virtually no chance of entering general circulation.
