The Spitfires display distinctive RAF roundels on their wings and black-and-white invasion stripes on their fuselages, rendered with vivid chromatic detail against a pale sky. The raised legend 'ROYAL AIR FORCE CENTENARY' arcs in bold capitals around the upper border of the gold-plated rim, while the commemorative dates '1918 - 2018' are inscribed along the lower border, marking the centenary of the RAF's founding.
