Additional information

The Isle of Man has long exploited its status as a Crown Dependency — outside UK parliamentary control but under the Crown — to issue commemorative coinage with far greater freedom than the Royal Mint. The 2017 platinum wedding issue marks seventy years of the Queen's marriage to Prince Philip, a milestone no other British monarch had reached. Philip died in April 2021, making this among the last commemorative series issued during his lifetime.
