Obverse description The fifth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, as designed by Jody Clark, occupies the centre of the obverse, depicting a right-facing crowned bust of the Queen wearing a drop earring and the George IV State Diadem. The surrounding legend reads ELIZABETH II·D·G·REG·F·D·, with the denomination 50 PENCE and date 2020 completing the circular inscription. The engraver's initials J.C appear below the truncation of the bust. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field, characteristic of Royal Mint silver proof coinage.
