Obverse description The fifth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, as modelled by Jody Clark, occupies the centre of the heptagonal field, depicting a right-facing draped bust of the Queen wearing the George IV State Diadem, a drop earring visible at her ear. The surrounding legend reads ELIZABETH II · D · G · REG · F · D · 50 PENCE · 2019, distributed around the periphery of the coin, with the engraver's initials J.C. incused beneath the truncation of the bust. The portrait is rendered with exceptional relief and fine surface detail characteristic of the proof finish, set against a deeply mirrored field.
