Reverse description A boldly modelled depiction of an Iguanodon dominates the field, shown in a semi-quadrupedal stance facing right atop a large fossil tooth in the exergue, referencing the fossil specimen described by Gideon Mantell in 1825. Prehistoric flora — including a horsetail plant to the left and a cycad frond to the right — flank the dinosaur in the field. The legend IGUANODON arcs above along the upper periphery, while MANTELL 1825 curves below along the lower rim. The engraver's initials RN appear incuse at lower right, attributing the design to palaeo-artist Robert Nicholls.
