Issued to mark Queen Elizabeth II's role as Commander-in-Chief of the British Armed Forces, a constitutional position she held for seventy years — longer than any previous British monarch. The gold plating on this piece is selective, applied to isolate specific design elements, a technique that became commercially standard for commemorative issues in the 1990s and has since saturated the collector market for royal themed pieces.
She died in September 2022, making this among the final Guernsey commemoratives struck in her honor before the transition to Charles III.
