Jersey issued this piece to mark the 50th anniversary of Elizabeth II's accession, which fell in 2002 — the same year the Queen lost both her sister Margaret and her mother within weeks of each other. The jubilee celebrations pressed forward regardless, and a wave of commemorative coinage from British Crown Dependencies flooded the collector market that year and into 2003 as minting schedules caught up with demand.
