Jersey issued this piece in 2011, a full year ahead of the Diamond Jubilee itself — the actual 60th anniversary of Elizabeth II's accession fell on February 6, 2012. Advance-dated commemorative issues of this kind are common practice for smaller Crown Dependencies, allowing time for distribution through collector channels before the event date arrives.
Gold-plated steel strikes from Jersey's commemorative program of this period were produced by Pobjoy Mint under contract.
