| Reverse description | The reverse, designed by John Mills to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings of 6 June 1944, presents a dynamic composition filling the entire heptagonal field. The upper portion depicts a dramatic aerial scene with multiple Allied aircraft — identifiable as Spitfires and other World War II fighter types — shown in flight, trailing vapour trails rendered as bold diagonal lines sweeping across the field.
