Additional information

Saint Helena issued commemorative gold coinage in extremely limited quantities throughout the early 2000s, with distribution handled almost entirely through specialist dealers rather than through any local circulation channel — the island's population of roughly 4,000 had little use for a 39.94g gold piece. The 50th anniversary of the 1953 Coronation prompted a wave of issues across British Overseas Territories, and Saint Helena's remote status in the South Atlantic made its contributions among the least publicized of the group.

KM#30b denotes the gold variant within a tiered series that also appeared in silver and base metal, a common production strategy for this issuer during the period.
