Additional information

Issued to mark the fiftieth anniversary of Elizabeth II's coronation on 2 June 1953, this Guernsey piece is one of dozens of commemorative fifty-pence coins the island has produced since gaining the right to issue its own coinage under the Coinage Act 1969. Guernsey has exploited that right more aggressively than most Crown Dependencies, releasing commemoratives at a pace that has occasionally drawn criticism from collectors for diluting the series.
