Obverse description Fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, as modelled by Ian Rank-Broadley, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. The legend 'ISLE OF MAN ELIZABETH II' arcs around the periphery, with the date '2009' positioned at the base. The engraver's initials 'IRB' appear below the truncation of the portrait. The design is rendered in high relief against a flat field within the heptagonal flan.

Reverse description Central device depicting five interlocking rings arranged in a circular, wreath-like composition, colourised in gold, evoking the 'Five Gold Rings' verse of the traditional carol 'The Twelve Days of Christmas.' A small heart motif is incuse at the centre of the composition. Pine cone and foliage sprigs flank the base of the design. The legend 'CHRISTMAS' arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination '50' appears at the base, flanked by the decorative botanical elements.
