Additional information

The Isle of Man has issued annual Christmas 50 pence pieces since 1980, a program initiated under the Manx government's aggressive commemorative coinage policy that made the island one of the most prolific small-territory issuers of the era. Virenium, copper-nickel, and silver versions were struck simultaneously most years, targeting both circulation and the collector market.

The 1994 issue corresponds to KM#425 in the copper-nickel circulation format. Manx Christmas coins from this period were legal tender on the island but rarely encountered in everyday commerce — most were absorbed by collectors immediately upon release.
