Reverse description Right-facing youthful effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as she appeared in the early 1950s, rendered with fine detail to the hair and facial features. The portrait, engraved by Laura Beatie (initials LB visible at the base of the neck truncation), evokes the classic early-reign representations of the Queen. The surrounding legend, arcing along the upper and right periphery of the heptagonal field, reads 95TH BIRTHDAY FIFTY PENCE, commemorating Her Majesty's 95th birthday. The mirror-polished proof fields provide strong contrast to the frosted devices.
