Jersey's 2016 Bayeux Tapestry series spread the embroidery's 70-odd scenes across multiple collector coins, this piece covering William's Channel crossing in the weeks before Hastings. The tapestry itself was almost certainly commissioned by Odo, Bishop of Bayeux and William's half-brother, likely in the 1070s for the consecration of Bayeux Cathedral — making it Norman propaganda stitched in linen by, most scholars now believe, English hands.
At 2.5 grams in .999 silver, the coin is a small-format piece, part of a numbered sequence that rewards set collectors more than type collectors.
