Reverse description A faithful silver-relief reproduction of a scene from the Bayeux Tapestry depicting the oath of Harold to Duke William. On the left, Duke William is shown enthroned and robed, gesturing toward Harold; at centre, two ornate reliquary altars bearing cross finials are prominently rendered; on the right, Harold stands with arms outstretched, touching the reliquaries in the act of swearing his oath. The design faithfully replicates the flat, linear Romanesque artistic style of the original embroidery. The Latin inscription from the tapestry, UBI HAROLD SACRAMENTUM FECIT WILLELMO DUCI, is engraved in period-style lettering across the upper field.
