Reverse description The central field displays a composite achievement of arms combining the coats of arms of Her Majesty's Government and Gibraltar. The quartered royal shield occupies the upper portion, with the first and fourth quarters bearing the passant guardant lions of England, the second featuring the rampant lion within the double tressure flory-counter-flory of Scotland, and the third a harp representing Ireland; the shield is surmounted by a guardian lion statant guardant wearing the St. Edward's Crown, flanked by a crowned English lion as dexter supporter and a gorged Scottish unicorn as sinister supporter. Below, Gibraltar's own escutcheon depicts a triple-towered castle above a golden key on a red field. The commemorative legend FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF THE REFERENDUM arcs around the upper periphery, with the denomination FIFTY PENCE inscribed below.
