| Obverse description | Uncrowned right-facing effigy of King Charles III occupies the central field, rendered in high relief after the portrait by Martin Jennings. The king is depicted with natural hair and no regalia, presenting a contemporary and dignified likeness. The Pobjoy Mint mintmark 'PM' appears in small incuse lettering below the truncation of the bust. A continuous circular legend surrounds the effigy, reading 'BRITISH ANTARCTIC TERRITORY · 2023 · KING CHARLES III · 50 PENCE · PM', with the inscriptions divided by raised dots. The diamond-finish gold plating imparts a sharp, mirror-like quality to the field contrasting with the frosted relief of the portrait. |

| Reverse description | The reverse presents a detailed architectural depiction of Westminster Abbey, engraved by David Armitage, with the iconic twin towers of the West Front dominating the central field and subsidiary Gothic structures flanking the composition. To the lower right, an Antarctic landscape with ice and wildlife is subtly incorporated, referencing the issuing territory. A St. Edward's Crown device appears in the left field, symbolising the coronation. To the right, a circular security feature bearing a coronation-related inscription and the date '6th MAY 2023' are inscribed in the field. The arched legend 'CORONATION OF KING CHARLES III' curves across the upper portion of the field, with the die-mark 'DA' present on the reverse. |
