The Falkland Islands has no meaningful connection to the London Underground or the Blitz — this is a licensed commemorative issued for the collector market, exploiting the Crown dependency system that allows British Overseas Territories to produce coins that never circulate. The underlying event, of course, is real: during the Blitz of 1940–41, London Underground stations sheltered as many as 177,000 people on a single night in September 1940, despite the government's initial reluctance to permit the Tube to be used as shelter at all.
