Reverse description Central motif depicting a winged scarab beetle, the ancient Egyptian symbol of regeneration and royal protection, rendered in bold selective gold plating and set against a frosted silver field. The scarab's wings are fully extended in a symmetrical fan composition, with fine radiating detail throughout. Behind the scarab, an engraved panel of Egyptian hieroglyphic cartouches and architectural motifs evokes the interior of Tutankhamun's tomb, referencing the centenary of Howard Carter's discovery in 1922. The legend 'TUTANKHAMUN' arcs across the upper field flanked by the commemorative dates '1922' and '2022', while 'FIFTY PENCE' is inscribed along the lower arc. The heptagonal shape of the coin frames the design with chevron-patterned borders along each side.
