| Obverse description | Uncrowned right-facing effigy of King Charles III, modelled by sculptor Martin Jennings, occupies the central field of this equilateral curve heptagonal flan. The portrait presents the King in a naturalistic, contemporary style with fine detail in the hair and facial features. The peripheral legend reads CHARLES III·D·G·REX·F·D·50 PENCE·2024, distributed around the rim, with the engraver's initials MJ incused discreetly beneath the truncation of the bust. |

The "Winged Keys" issue marks the first year of Charles III's reign to feature the full commemorative proof program, though the keys motif itself references the historic privilege granted to the Wardenship of the Cinque Ports — a ceremonial office Charles holds. The Cinque Ports confederation dates to the 11th century, when its member towns supplied the English crown with ships and men in lieu of standard taxation.
Royal Mint silver proofs of this period are struck to closed-collar specification with multiple die passes, producing the frosted cameo contrast specific to this format. Mintage figures for individual proof issues in this series have been kept deliberately low.
