The Palace of Holyroodhouse sits at the foot of Edinburgh's Royal Mile and has served as the official Scottish residence of the British monarch since the 16th century — though Jersey, as a Crown Dependency, sits entirely outside the United Kingdom and has no constitutional relationship with Scotland whatsoever.
