Additional information

Sandringham House has no constitutional or administrative function — it is private property, purchased by Edward VII in 1862 when he was still Prince of Wales, and has remained a personal royal possession passed outside the Crown Estate ever since. Charles III inherited it directly from Elizabeth II, making it one of the few major royal residences that is genuinely his own rather than held in trust for the monarchy.

Jersey's ongoing series of royal residence 50 pence pieces has leaned heavily on that personal connection as its editorial logic.
