Additional information

The Isle of Man has issued commemorative 50 pence pieces under its own authority since decimalization in 1971, operating independently of the Royal Mint — which gives the treasury considerable latitude to pursue licensed pop-culture and literary themes that no UK mainland issue would touch. J.M. Barrie's copyright in Peter Pan passed to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in 1929 under a special bequest, and while standard copyright expired in most jurisdictions in 1987, GOSH retained perpetual UK royalty rights through a unique 1988 Act of Parliament.
