Obverse description Right-facing uncrowned effigy of King Charles III, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and collar, after the portrait by David Lawrence. The legend KING CHARLES III arcs along the upper left periphery, with ISLE OF MAN continuing along the upper right, all in raised Latin lettering. The date 2024 appears in the lower field beneath the portrait. The design follows the standard heptagonal format of the British 50 pence series, with the effigy centrally positioned within the coin's curved sides.

Reverse description Full-length figure of Peter Pan depicted in a dynamic pose at centre, wearing his characteristic feathered hat and cloak, holding a dagger in one hand and gesturing outward with the other, surrounded by scattered five-pointed stars and swirling decorative ribbons evoking a sense of flight and adventure. A scrolled banner arcs across the upper portion of the field bearing the legend PETER PAN in raised lettering. The denomination 50 appears to the right of the figure in the mid-field. The composition fills the heptagonal format with lively detail referencing J.M. Barrie's celebrated character.

Additional information

The Isle of Man has issued Peter Pan coinage since 1989, trading on the island's claim that J.M. Barrie assigned the copyright of the story to Great Ormond Street Hospital — a connection the Isle of Man government has periodically leveraged for collector series. Barrie's 1929 gift of the perpetual copyright was a private act, and the story's actual ties to the island are tenuous at best.

Charles III coinage from the Isle of Man moved quickly after the September 2022 accession, with the island's own Pobjoy Mint history giving it a faster turnaround than many Crown dependencies.
