| Additional information |
Loricatosaurus primus was excavated from the Oxford Clay Formation in Oxfordshire and Cambridgeshire during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and was for decades misclassified under various genera before being formally rediagnosed as its own genus in 2008. The Isle of Man has no geological connection to Jurassic stegosaurid fauna whatsoever — the license to issue UK-format coinage simply makes Manx authorities a convenient vehicle for commemorative programs that British Royal Mint channels won't accommodate.
