Reverse description The reverse features a vivid full-colour depiction of a Diplodocus, a long-necked sauropod dinosaur of the Jurassic period, shown in a front-facing stance with its characteristic elongated neck curving toward the viewer and its whip-like tail extending to the right. Beneath the coloured life reconstruction, a detailed engraved skeleton of the same dinosaur is shown in silver relief, juxtaposing the living animal with its fossil record, flanked by engraved Jurassic flora on either side. The legend DIPLODOCUS arcs across the upper field in large incuse lettering, while JURASSIC appears in raised lettering on a polished black exergual band at the base. The engraver's initials RN appear at lower right. This design forms part of the Royal Mint's British Dinosaurs series.
