| Additional information |
Issued to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, this coin commemorates the naval bombardment component of Operation Neptune — the largest amphibious operation in history. The Allied naval gunfire support on June 6, 1944 involved over 130 warships shelling five beach sectors simultaneously, with HMS Belfast's guns reaching targets more than 14 miles inland. The Isle of Man has an unusually active commemorative 50 pence program and frequently issues themed pieces tied to British military anniversaries, producing multiple D-Day-related coins in this series.
