Poggle's Wood aired on BBC Children's Television from 1966 to 1967, a puppet series created by Freddie Phillips — the same composer who wrote the theme for The Wombles. The Guernsey treasury has issued a sequence of these selective-colour 50 pence pieces under licence, targeting collector demand rather than circulation, and most will never see a pocket.
