Catherine Howard is widely believed to have been executed in February 1542 at around seventeen or eighteen years of age, making her almost certainly the youngest of Henry VIII's six wives to die by royal decree. Her tenure as queen lasted fewer than two years. Guernsey has developed a consistent commercial program around Tudor subjects, issuing commemorative 50 pence pieces with legal tender status under the authority of the States — a bailiwick that operates independently of the Royal Mint.
