Guernsey has no organic connection to the Battle of Britain as a military event — the island was occupied by German forces from June 1940 until May 1945, making it the only British territory to fall under Nazi occupation during the war. Its inclusion as the issuing authority here is a licensing arrangement, not a historical one.
The "Squadron Scramble" theme references the improvised ground-to-air alert system used by Fighter Command, where pilots were ordered aloft with as little as two minutes' warning during the summer of 1940.
