Obverse description The Lion Capital of Ashoka, the national emblem of India, is depicted in the centre of the field, showing three lions upon an abacus adorned with the Dharma Chakra (wheel) flanked by a bull and a horse in low relief. The national motto in Devanagari script, 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate, meaning 'Truth alone triumphs'), appears below the emblem. The denomination '50' is inscribed in large numerals in the lower field. Surrounding legends read 'भारत' in Devanagari to the left and 'INDIA' in Latin to the right, with 'पैसे' and 'PAISE' arcing along the left and right periphery respectively.
