Orania is a small, privately governed Afrikaner community on the banks of the Orange River in the Northern Cape, and the Ora is its local exchange medium — not legal tender anywhere in South Africa, but accepted within the town's economy for goods and services. The Sakekamer, the town's business chamber, administers the currency. The H series represents an ongoing refinement of what began as a fairly modest local scrip program in the 1990s.
JDA Beyers is the sole authorizing signature on this denomination. Collector interest is primarily driven by the political curiosity of the issuer rather than any printing rarity.
