The "NF" — Nouveaux Francs — overprint on this note reflects the 1960 redenomination decree, under which 100 old francs became 1 new franc. Rather than waiting for entirely new stock, the Banque de France applied the conversion value directly to existing Henri IV series notes still in circulation or reserve, creating these transitional overstamps. The practice was economically efficient but short-lived; purpose-printed NF issues replaced the overprinted material quickly.
Beltrand's work on the reverse is worth noting — the family produced several prominent engravers across two generations, and Georges Léon Égalité was among the more technically accomplished of them working in French state printing during the mid-century.
