Obverse description The second definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, rendered in high relief with a crowned and draped bust. The portrait, designed by Arnold Machin, depicts the Queen wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, a necklace, and earrings. The legend encircles the effigy along the periphery, with the date positioned at the lower right of the field.
