Obverse description Cast iron flan with a raised square central perforation surrounded by four large Chinese characters in traditional regular script (kaishu), each occupying one cardinal position around the hole. Reading clockwise from the top: 文 (bun/wen), 貨 (ka/huo), 久 (kyū/jiǔ), and 泉 (sen/quan), together forming the four-character legend 文久永寶 in the conventional cash-coin arrangement. The characters are boldly rendered in high relief against a flat, unadorned field, consistent with the cast production technique. A plain inner rim frames the square hole, and a raised outer rim encircles the entire design.
