The Kreis der Eder was a short-lived administrative district in the former Principality of Waldeck, a territory that retained a degree of political distinctiveness even after being absorbed into the Prussian provincial structure. This 50 Mark note is Notgeld — emergency money issued at the district level during the hyperinflationary spiral of 1922, when the Reichsbank's output could not keep pace with collapsing purchasing power and local authorities were left to paper over the gap themselves.
Paul Pusch was a local Bad Wildungen printer, not a specialist currency house. That provenance matters: the technical quality of district-level Notgeld from small regional printers varies considerably, and these notes were never intended as collectibles despite the later Notgeld collecting craze.
