| Obverse description | Central device depicts the Vytis, the Lithuanian mounted knight, shown in right-facing profile atop a rearing horse, rendered in a stylized heraldic manner with fine linear engraving detailing the armor, shield, and sword. The legend LIETUVA 2014 arcs along the upper periphery, flanked on each side by a row of small star ornaments. The denomination 50 LITŲ is inscribed in large characters across the lower field. The mint mark LMK appears discreetly to the lower right of the central device. The overall design combines the national coat of arms motif with a clean, modern proof finish. |

| Reverse description | Central device features an open book rendered in fine detail, its pages decorated with cartographic and scholarly imagery, bearing the Latin inscription ARTES LIBERALES across both pages in bold relief lettering, symbolizing the liberal arts tradition of Vytautas Magnus University. Six ornamental star devices are arranged in an arc above the book in the upper field. The curved legend VYTAUTO DIDŽIOJO UNIVERSITETO ATKŪRIMAS runs along the periphery, reading from the lower left, around the top, and down the right side. The numeral 25, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the university's reestablishment, appears prominently in the lower field flanked by two additional star ornaments. The mirror-like proof fields provide strong contrast to the finely frosted relief elements. |

| Additional information |
Vytautas Magnus University was founded in Kaunas in 1922, during the period when Vilnius remained occupied by Poland and Kaunas functioned as Lithuania's provisional capital. The institution was closed by Soviet authorities in 1950 and did not reopen until 1989, making its post-independence restoration as politically charged as its original founding. The 25th anniversary this coin marks counts from that 1989 reopening — not 1922.
